We suggest cleaning products using products you already have at home.

Many products found at home are great when it comes to cleaning. Some examples of products and tips on how they can be used:

Lemon

Lemon has a mild disinfecting property that makes it a very effective aid when you clean. If you use lemon when you clean, you will get a lovely fresh scent afterward. Lemon can be used in many areas when cleaning. Some examples of areas where you can clean with lemon are.

  • Limescaled areas.

In the bathroom around the faucet and sink is an area where there is a lot of limescale. A good way to remove limescale is to cut a lemon in half and dip it in a little salt, then scrub the limescale. After you finish scrubbing, you can take a damp cloth and wash it off.

  • Get rid of bad smell

Lemon has a very strong, fresh scent. Some good places to use lemon include the fridge and in the garbage bag, where the lemon scent spreads and removes bad odors.

  • Clean the microwave

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a microwave-safe bowl, then add the other half of the lemon. Start the microwave on maximum power 2-3 or until steam comes out. Then wipe off with a dry cloth and your microwave will be sparkling clean.

Bicarbonate

Bicarbonate has an effect that is abrasive and is very good for dirt that sticks a little harder. Bicarbonate has a high pH value and is weakly basic. It can be mixed with many different products. Like lemon, bicarbonate also has many uses.

  • Clean tiles

By mixing water and bicarbonate into a paste in a bowl, you get a cleaning agent that is good for tiles, among other things. Then use a sponge or brush and scrub the tiles and the joints to remove the dirt. Then wipe clean with a damp cloth.

  • Clean the oven

Mix a batter with water and bicarbonate and spread on the inside of the oven. Use a dish brush or sponge and scrub clean, then take a cloth and wipe clean.

  • Loose plugs

Pour 1 deciliter of bicarbonate and one deciliter of vinegar into the sink or sink, remember that the valve must be tight so it doesn’t leak. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and then rinse with water.

  • Remove bad odors from furniture

Sprinkle bicarbonate on, for example, a bed, sofa, or carpet, rub lightly, and then vacuum so that all the bicarbonate is gone.

Vinegar essence

Mix a 50/50 mixture of rubbing alcohol and water to make a great homemade cleaner.

This agent can be used for many things, including in the bathroom where it is effective on tiles and clinkers, porcelain, the faucet, and much more.

It is also effective in the kitchen where you can use vinegar to remove bad smells, clean the drain and clean the microwave. When you clean the microwave with vinegar, you run like a lemon, a microwave-safe bowl of water solidly skips the lemon and pours vinegar instead. Keep in mind that vinegar has a strong smell so you may need to aerate afterward.

Hot water

Hot water is good for cleaning the outside of, for example, a fan or microwave that is made of aluminum.

Make your cleaner with vinegar

Vinegar + lemon

Cut the rind off the lemon and place the rind in a sealable jar, then pour in the vinegar so that all the lemon is covered. Let it stand for 10-14 days so that the lemon has time to secrete. Then pick out the lemon peel and pour equal parts of water and vinegar into the mixture.

Vinegar + bicarbonate

Mix 5 parts vinegar, 4 parts water, and one part bicarbonate in a spray bottle.

You now have an effective remedy that works a little everywhere. If you want, you can add a few drops of lemon juice for a fresher scent.

Streamline cleaning

By streamlining cleaning in various ways, you make cleaning easier, more fun, and smoother for you. Cleaning does not necessarily have to be boring or difficult and especially not time-consuming. Fortunately, many different ways to make your cleaning, instead of being a burden, something positive. Everyone loves a tidy home!

Here are some tips on how you can streamline and simplify your cleaning.

Plan the cleaning

Take the time and review how you can make the cleaning fit into your schedule without having to stress and half finish the cleaning. If you only have time to vacuum one day, you should settle for just vacuuming. Mopping and window cleaning can wait until you have time for it. No one feels good from stress.

Make a schedule and plan how you will divide your cleaning. Vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning the bathroom should be done relatively often, preferably once a week. You don’t need to do a major clean every time, it’s good enough to clean the roughest and what goes fastest and then do what takes a little longer in connection with a major clean.

Make cleaning fun

That said, cleaning should be fun and luckily there are many ways you can make cleaning more fun!

Compete with yourself. Time how long it takes you to fold the laundry or vacuum the living room and then try to set as good a time as possible. Introducing a little competition into the cleaning, something that many people don’t think is so much fun becomes more fun. When you compete against yourself, the focus is mostly on the competition part and less on cleaning.

Listen to something. Turn on the speaker or put on your headphones and play some motivational music to get you going. You can also listen to a podcast or audiobook that makes you feel like you’re listening to it and cleaning in the meantime instead of feeling like you’re cleaning and listening in the meantime.

If you have a family, it’s always nice to have company while cleaning. A tip if you have children is to give things home in your home so that the children know where their toys should be somewhere. Put a piece of tape on the toys of one color and a shelf or box of the same color, then challenge your child(ren) to put the right color in the right place.

Make cleaning easier

When you are cleaning at short notice, it is, unfortunately, a little more difficult to make cleaning easier. On the other hand, when you have to do a major cleaning, you can simplify the cleaning in various ways. Among other things, by thinking of always cleaning things after you have used them, for example, the stove, the sink, the sink and so on. If you clean a little now and then by wiping things down or putting away things that don’t need to be in front of you, you can save a lot of time when you have to do a big clean. Cleaning will be easier both physically and mentally if you don’t have to do small things that you could have done right away.

Clean quickly

To clean quickly, there are a bunch of different tricks, mostly the tricks are about smaller things that prevent it from getting dirty more than cleaning itself. The tricks are usually very simple and things that you can figure out quite easily.

Here is a list of some tips:

    • Always hang or put clothes where they should be or put them in the laundry. Your home will look cleaner immediately if there is not a lot of dirty laundry or clothes that need to be hung up or put in somewhere.
    • Take care to wash the dishes when the food is in the oven or on the stove. You then get rid of dirty dishes that you have used straight away instead of dragging them out until you have eaten.
    • Always make the beds in the morning when you wake up. A made bed makes the apartment or bedroom look nice and fresh when you get home.
    • Pick up before leaving home. Because you put things away before you leave the house, it will be more pleasant to come home compared to if things are scattered around noise.
  • Give things home in your home so that you don’t have a lot of stuff lying around. The gadgets don’t have to lie in front of you and you don’t have to think about where to put them when you put them away.
  • Pick up things that are not used. As soon as you get home from work, the workout, or the round of golf, remove the things and put them in the right place immediately. Get it in as a habit and you will avoid several bags being piled up in the hall that should be somewhere else.

Wash away stains with things you have at home

By taking care of stains immediately when the accident occurs, the chance of removing them is much greater than if you wait and they have time to settle. Many stains are easy to remove and some stains are tougher.

  • Coffee stains

Coffee consists mostly of water and is quite grateful to remove it. In some cases, rinsing with water is enough, but some stains can be tougher than that. If water is not enough, you can try mixing vinegar and water and rubbing the stain with a cloth.

  • Red wine stains

Believe it or not, salt is very effective for red wine stains. Pour or rinse water on the stain, then pour salt so that it covers the entire stain and preferably a little more. Then let the salt act for about 30 minutes before rinsing off the salt. If it doesn’t work, you can throw the garment into the washing machine. If you get red wine stains on the carpet, you can sprinkle bicarbonate or baking soda on the stain and let it work (also works on coffee stains) for 30 minutes. Then use soapy water and rub on the stain.

  • Grease stains

Dishwashing liquid and a sponge work well against grease stains. Rub the stain thoroughly and rinse.

  • Textile

For stains on sofas, armchairs, or beds, follow the same process as for stains on the carpet. Sprinkle salt, bicarbonate, or baking powder and leave to act for about 30 minutes. Then use soapy water to rub away the stain.

Hope you learned something new that will make house cleaning easier for you!
